Culinary celebration of Japan’s ‘Double Ninth Festival’ at The Okura Prestige Bangkok

‘kiku no sekku’, chrysanthemum festival @ Yamazato

Japan’s famous double ninth festival on 9 September is one of the nation’s five seasonal festivals. Also known as ‘kiku no sekku’, or chrysanthemum festival, it’s a popular event throughout Japan. It is tradition to drink sake floating the petal of Chrysanthemum on 9 September and wish for a long and happy life. Our signature Japanese restaurant Yamazato brings the festival to Bangkok with set lunch and Kaiseki set dinner menus from 31 August to 13 September 2015.

The set lunch is priced at Baht 850++ per set. Dinner is priced at Baht 3,000++ per set. The dinner menu includes lightly grilled salmon with deep-fried Chinese yam, grilled Shiitake mushroom and vinegared chrysanthemum with caviar; sea eel deep-fried with egg yolk and chrysanthemum in soup with shimeji mushroom and green vegetables; a sashimi course comprising tuna belly, saury fish, sweet shrimp and scallop; a grilled dish of cider-flavoured barracuda with Matsutake mushrooms ginkgo nuts, steamed chestnuts, green chilis, pickled Japanese Mioga ginger, sudachi and grated radish; and a main dish comprising steamed snow fish with tofu skin, lotus roots and mushroom, fish sauce, carrots and shredded leeks.

Yamazato is located on the 24th floor of The Okura Prestige Bangkok. Prices are subject to 10% service charge and 7% government tax.
