A bit disappointed 😞
The CockleX (เดอะคอกเคิลเอ็กซ์)
2024-10-07
The reason I went to this restaurant because of cockles, their price for all you can eat similar to the hotel standard.I tasted a few, found one spoiled with disgusting smell; then I smelled before I tasted again, few more spoiled 😔.Most of the food were just okay, except the sweet shell tasted fresh. You are able to get full with the quantities they have but not feel good with their qualities. It is even worse than the night market. The only advantage they have is the environment: air conditioning with better hygiene.…Read More

#Gourmet #5-course
J'AIME by Jean-Michel Lorain
2019-11-07
It is another sunny Wednesday, this award winning restaurant is very far away from the public transportation and the main road, it might be the reason why there was only us to have lunch in weekday. The interior design is quite elagent with an upside down piano in the ceiling. The set lunch menu is a best deal at this Michelin's resturant with THB 1200 net for 5 courses when comparing with the 5-course tasting menu at THB 3399 net.We ordered one set lunch and one tasting menu, they serve with bread and side dish. They have three dressings however it is not our cup of tea and it is good to reheat the bread before serving. This side dish gave us a fresh taste to start the gourmet dining. The papaya soup is a bit sour and taste very good, while the chestnut soup is quite rich.Set lunch with two appetizers, the sorbet one tastes very interesting, not too cold and just like the gourmet melt at the mouth. The beetroot ribbon with a quail egg is a prefect couple with different textures and layers. The tasting menu gives you a choice to select two appetizers:The duck confit with bread which is not just a regular one, this is our first time to eat bread made with duck. This soybean ragout with mushroom gives us a feel of French snail. The fish skin is quite crispy, the fish is very tender. The scallops are well cooked and we can't tell that it was served with vegetable red wine sauce. This is a pre-dessert for the tasting menu to neturalize the taste bud. This potatoe-liked dessert planted in cropped sweet potatoes' skin which really looks like solid. We like the white chocolates skin with the topping of black chocolates. At the end of this gourmet dining, the restaurant gives us another surprise, the unexpected last serving. It is so sweet to conclude this wonderful 5-course journey.…Read More

Good atmosphere but just up to standard food
Zanotti IL Ristorante (ซานนอตตี้อิล)
2018-11-17
The atmosphere was great and we ordered 2 lunch sets of three courses.Frankly speaking, the lunch menu didn't have any traits of Italian. They offered a variety of breads and dipping which mixed with Italian and Thai styles. The soup was so plain, I really can't tell it is a pumpkin except the orange color. This eggplant pizza was very special, the Chef added the salty fish instead of seasoning. The seabass was not fresh and the tomatoes was not strong enough to cover this fact. The chicken roll with the spinach was the only dish I like. The chicken and spinach were not over cooked. The dessert was just up to standard and no surprise.…Read More

Thai Fusion Experience
Kub Kao' Kub Pla
2018-11-15
This is another Thai restaurant recommended by the tourist book. This one seems like a Thai fusion restaurant. The shrimp cake was very juicy, even it is not 100% made from shrimp, it is still in my recommendation list. It crossed over with almond, more like a gimmick as it didn't add any points to make it become extraordinary. This salad was too spicy for me even it tasted good. The soft crab was in a good size to share for two. This veggy was crossed over too much; not all taste good, some were so rough. It is very common in western to dip the veggy with source. The chef is just so creative and forgets what is more important to foodie. This is a regular grass noodle that up to standard. We also ordered a young coconut but it is not cold enough.…Read More

When Japanese meets Thai
Tetsu
2018-11-13
This was my first time to experience Japanese cuisine in Thailand. Thai likes spicy and this dressing is a completely Thai style with chili, garlic and lime.We ordered two don sets and hamachi. This pork set is highly for value with two appetizers, kimchi and miso soup. The deep fried lotus roots were very crispy. The source for the pork was so yummy, if the chef may lower down the salty level, it will be perfect. If I didn't tell you I was in a Japanese restaurant, you may think that I was in Korean restaurant as the set served with kimchi rather than the pickled veggy. The Hamachi also served with deep fried lotus root, I think this is the signature of the chef. It is an excellent choice for photo taking but difficult to eat in one piece. The source didn't help to bring out the best of the Hamachi. This is the one I highly recommended, the salmon tori is very close to the level that melts in your mouth. You can tell how great it is with the balanced colors: red and white to cross over. The chef may want to add a new element to this traditional dish, that's why the avocado being selected. This is one of my favourite fruits.…Read More

Nara Thai Cuisine (นารา)
2018-11-12
This restaurant is highly recommended by many tourist books with its traditional style and affordable price. The shrimps were so fresh. When you tasted something spicy, something bitter may neturalize it. I was really impressed that they put bitter melon as a side dish. The source was too spicy for me but it tasted good. This summer roll wrapped with shrimps and veggy, it was so fresh. This oyster cake was a bit oily, the oysters were big and juicy. This was a very yummy boat noodles, the soup was very tasty with different ingredients. I guess one of them is peanuts. It served with meat ball, pork liver and etc. This is the one you shouldn't miss it Last but not least, a special compliment to the waiteress. She is very detailed-oriented to offer a 4-seat table rather than 2-seat when she noticed that we have a backpack and moved around the fans to make us be more comfortable.…Read More

Services is better than the food
The Water Library
2018-11-10
We can tell why it named as library but have no ideas where the water come from. The waiter is highly customer-oriented to remind us to select a top up drink when we were considering to order a still water, THB 90 Vs THB 220. The tea is good enough for two to share and may refill hot water up to 3 times. It is highly value for money. A timer is also provided to ensure the tea just be prefect taste. We ordered 3 courses dinner set, foie gras and organic chicken leg.The bread was hot, soft inside and a bit crispy outside. The foie gras was up to standard, not much suprise. The good one shall taste like an ice-cream to melt. What we like was the side dish - beetroot. This spring roll was crispy and not too oily. Filling with duck sounds like French. The salad was fresh, mixed with black vinegar is the prefect match. This pasta tasted good, just a bit spicy. The veggy not overcooked. This chicken leg was just done, so smooth. However I can't tell whether it is organic or not. The source was too salty. Our dinner finished with a brownie, one was pretty enough. This was the reason why we didn't order two sets dinner as they only offer 1 dessert.…Read More
