The Only Cafe at Karon Beachfront Smile Oct 25, 2016

Categories : Coffee Shop / Tea Room

Located along the Karon Beach Road, Coffee Talk is the first and only cafe opened at the Thavorn Palm Beach Resort. It is essentially partner to the large open-door Italian restaurant Ciao Bistro.

While both is sharing a magnificent view of the beachfront sunset and a serene ocean, Coffee Talk differentiates itself as a glass air-conditioned internet cafe where serves all-day breakfast, the finest coffee made from locally-grown coffee beans and incredible homemade desserts.

We opt for a open breakfast burger with ham, sunny side up egg that is topped with melted cheddar and some scrumptious sauteed potatoes, in addition to the loaded fries with cheese and chopped bacon.

The affogato is absolutely delightful, composed of ete vanilla ice cream, espresso and milk on the side. Ginger Fresh has fresh ginger, brown sugar, lime and mint leaves in a cold soda base.

Finally, the so-call “insane milkshake” are indeed very indulging. Loaded with more-than-enough whipped cream, chocolate drizzle and oreo biscuits, the base has been blended with ete cookies and cream ice cream and whole milk.

If you’re looking for a cosy spot to chill an afternoon, this vibrant place is definitely worth for such an unobstructed view of the Andaman Sea.

The Mango Place in BKK OK Jul 01, 2016

I have to say – mango is definitely one of the must-eat in Bangkok. They are found everywhere when you stroll down the city, but one place to note is Mango Tango, the most popular places for mango dessert in Bangkok Thailand.

They have 3 outlets at the moment, two in Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai. The Siam shop is always my go-to location because it can be easily located by just a 3-minutes walk from BTS Siam Station, across Siam Paragon.
Here you can find a wide range of combinations such as mango ice cream, pudding, sundae, smoothies and the very much well-known mango sticky rice.

We order a greedy choice with almost everything, the signature Mango Tango with extra sticky rice. True to its name, it has a generous slice of sweet and juicy mango, while the mango pudding is fairly okay with a full mouth of mango flavor; mango ice cream has a sorbet texture. The sticky rice also has the right texture, but I wish for more coconut cream.

Another one is a bowl of herbal jelly with mango sauce, milk sago and assorted fruits; tastes as simple as it look.

After all, the desserts is not overwhelmingly impressive but still enjoyable on the hot day.

Kakigori at theCOMMONS Smile Jul 01, 2016

Maygori is a new kakigori dessert cafe set at the new hit spot theCOMMONS. It is an extended brand of After You Dessert Cafe, providing a small yet amazing menu of Japanese shaved ice with specific, delicate and scrumptiously flavors.
Thinks like Japanese plum, berry yogurt, yuzu and my most anticipated flavor, milo!

The milo kakigori has a thick layer of malted chocolate, milk syrup, and fluffy sponge cake at the bottom. It is like drinking a very chocolately malted milk with some more lightly whipped cream on top to become the perfect complement. Best thing to finish our brunch!

The Perfect Brunch in BKK! Smile Jul 01, 2016

When looking for the best coffee or best brunch place in Bangkok, Roast Coffee & Eatery is surely on top of the list. It is a popular cafe which has opened several branches including the original one at Thonglor, one at The Helix of EmQuartier mall and this at theCOMMONS with an easy-going vibe.

The newspaper menu has a whole lot of brunch and all-day dishes such as egg Benedicts, signature strawberry waffle and fluffy pancakes, burgers and sandwiches, salad and pasta. The list extends to solid coffee and specialized drinks provided by Roots, another well-known coffee shop around Bangkok.

The crab cake benedict is one of the best I have had, with lumps of crabmeat serve atop a poached egg, with the yolk runny through together with the hollandaise. It is completed with a slightly too sweet onion jam, roasted cherry tomato and asparagus.
The mashed avocado toast is a generous serving with a healthy sprinkle of pumpkin and sunflower seeds, sourdough and balsamic vinegrette salad.

We love the signature strawberry tea made with tea ice cubes, fresh strawberries and mint, as well as the soothing matcha latte.

I’m highly recommending this cafe to everyone, especially at the new eatery spot the COMMONS.

Ranked as the Asia’s Best Restaurant and one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurant, Restaurant Gaggan is a fine-dining place where serves deconstructed and unexpectedly dramatic Indian cuisine. It is named after the owner and head chef Gaggan Anand, who has years of experience at El Bulli and progressively developing his culinary skills to make his restaurant one of the best in the whole of Asia.

Here offers one menu of the day, which includes a list of appetizers, mains and desserts with one-of-a-kind names. Starting from a pickled plum soda, it is a so refreshing and surprises further come with a spoonful of yogurt explosion, an edible plastic bag carrying wasabi spiced nuts, a bomb of mango juice and powdery curry cookies.

I am fascinated by the Chef’s philosophy, which is to stay true with traditional flavor but in a modern and fun molecular approach, as the menu follows with spicy pork with crispy potato noodle, chocolate cracker with chicken liver pate, a deletable piece of grilled eel on plantain chip, and finally mango ice cream cone topped with fresh uni.

A surprise from Chef Gaggan is a charcoal-like croquette made with sea bass, mashed potato, onion and curry powder, a magic mushroom that is possibly the best mushroom dish I have ever had in life.

Red matcha means tomato soup with fresh tomato, plum grape; while the tandoori lamb chop is so perfectly tender and succulent (noted that I am not a fan of lamb, no never!).

We have a big plate of dessert, peach snowball, aka melba ice, served with crystal-like ginger snow, fresh Japanese white peach and crushed nuts. Wow!

Finally, we are pleased with Chef’s childhood favourite mango ice cream lollies, incredible petit fours of carrot ice cream macaron, rice cracker and a cup of spring water as a final blessing.
